TextOS, the small FreeDOS-based operating system/programming language on a floppy, has been updated to version 1.0b5 “Architect.” It fixes some bugs and includes the long-awaited PAK file creation menu, which makes it easier to create your own TextOS PAK applications. Download it here.
Why is there a “daemon” avatar representing a “FreeDOS” based OS?
Please correct this.

I second that. Let’s get it together OSNEWS.
the website also has an inappropriate favicon
The page was originally for my political blog and still contains the archives of the blog at the main index. Also, I am from America. That is why there is an American flag for a favicon.
What do you mean “staying for the same <expletive deleted>?”
That’s a pretty clever system. Seems handy for primary schools, etc.
How can an american flag favicon be “inappropriate”? It’s his damn website and he can put what he likes. If it “offends” you then you don’t have to look at it, right?
under requirements it says -an IBM PC or compatible machine with a floppy disk drive
Can you boot it from a CD?
Because I don’t have a floppy 😐
Oh hell, just delete everything off topic – including this comment.
Might as well not start here.
(1) This is precisely the type of delightful, off-beat, creative programming that draws people to OSnews. Thanks to D.Q. for making this –even if it is a bit whimsical. In other words: I like it, but cannot think of any use for it.
(2) While “America” can indicate any area explored by Amerigo Vespucci, it is really absurd when people take umbridge when it is used to indicate the United States, as Vespucci’s name is only part of one particular country’s title –i.e., the U.S.A.
Why the Beastie icon?
The daemon is the BSD mascot, it has nothing to do with FreeDOS.
Good job Daniel, cant wait to test this one out.
. Name another country with the word ‘America’ in its name. It’s pretty obvious which country is meant then when someone says it.
I really wish common sense were required to comment, but the above quote proves it is not so …
South America
Central America
Those who us who have taken geography (especially when it’s required 3rd through 12th grade …), know this fact
Um, re-read what you quoted. Central and South America are NOT countries. They are a region and a continent, respectively.
Apparently, you didn’t pay attention in geography either.
The question was: name another country with the word “America” in the name, other than the USA.
American Samoa and The American Virgin Islands…
Illustrates the U.S. media’s idea of free speech nicely .”Ministry of truth” in action:
We will moderate down everything we do not like, though it did not insult anyone, just questioning the “truth”, but we will NOT moderate down what we like, though it IS offtopic too, and is on the same subject.
We never lie, we just slightly augment reality.
CNN is waiting for you .
North, South and Central America ar regions. America is a continent. And yes Beastie doesn’t belong there, and the US flag shows very bad taste :-P.
