The Galaxy S6 is set to mount the biggest challenge to Apple’s iPhone 6 to date, so it’s only natural to want to compare the dimensions and proportions of the two. I found that a strangely difficult task with the press images provided from both manufacturers: Apple still hides the iPhone’s camera bulge in profile shots and Samsung’s front and back pictures are shot at slightly different sizes. So I have rescaled the press photos in accordance with the official specs, and used The Verge’s magical image slider to get an idea of the difference in size.
Interesting comparison images. It also highlights the utter idiocy of the kneejerk Pavlovian “it’s a copy!” reactions from the usual suspects. These two devices are nothing alike.

They’re roughly the same size, same thickness, they both have a big screen and a button at the bottom. When you turn them on, you have a grid of icons (at least, that’s how most people set up android) and there’s similar apps.

I think it’s funny how the tech industry can attract people who care so much about a tiny box that is just a copy from another tiny box which in turn is a copy of yet another tiny box.
I don’t see a club of Miele fanboys trying to convince everyone that every other dishwasher is in fact just cheap copy of the real thing. What makes this industry so special that people become so emotionally attached?
Honestly, I expect the sort of shitty half baked rambling on iMore but I would have thought that Gruber would have at least put on his big boy pants and constructed a decent blog post without sounding like a complete douchebag. I’m no Samsung fan (my many posts on here and my own blog as being evidence of that) but to claim that the two are even closely similar is just an example of people making up shit to suit their psychotic hatred of ‘the enemy’ they see it. To personify an organisation as the epitome of ‘evil’ really makes me laugh – as if these organisations remotely care that there are legions of ‘fans’ on the internet ‘depending the honour’ of the company they’ve aligned themselves to.

That went an entirely different direction than I expected.
Well they’re both identical to me in the sense that they lack a removable battery and expandable storage, and I don’t want anything to do with either of them. When my current Samsung Galaxy S3 breaks (probably any day now given my abysmal experience with defects in Samsung smartphones) I’ll not be buying another Samsung.

I’ve always been inclined to defend Samsung in the past – how can their phones be hideous monstrosities that also look so much like the iPhone, the most beautiful phone ever designed according to Samsung’s accusers, that potential customers are likely to confuse the two and buy the Galaxy iMpostor by mistake?
But in this case, I have to disagree and say it is getting too iPhoney. I feel like the Galaxy S3 introduced a very curvey and distinct (whether or not you like it) design, and they’ve been genericizing it every since. The S6 Edge is, of course, more unique, but the basic design looks too similar to an iPhone for my taste.

I would say that on this occasion, the iphone 6 looks more like a samsung phone than the other way around.
That was my first thought when it was announced.
Samsung have stuck closer to their own designs than apple did when releasing their phones that were inspired by the samsung galaxy and note range.
These two devices are nothing alike.

they would have chosen phones of the same color at least. Yes they are different but the differences are overwhelmed by comparing a black phone to a silver one. Compare similar colours and they are pretty close. Not that that’s a problem.
Yeah completely agree.. They look nothing alike and for all my complaints about it being another metal and glass slab, the s6 is actually a good looking phone.
I honestly think the iphone 6 is an ugly phone and I am tired of the thinner is better bigger resolution is better stuff — I want a phone with 3 days battery life — something I can use all day and for it to still work.. The Sony z3 is pretty good, battery life is a good couple of days, I’m using that currently, but I dont like the glass back — its just a bit too fragile.
