On a slightly (stretching it here) related note, here is a detailed guide on installing and optimising Ubuntu on the Acer Aspire One that we reviewed last week. I replaced the default Linpus installation with Ubuntu using this guide, and I must say that I am quite pleased.

I said I was sticking to Linux, not Linpus per se
And yes, there's a restore CD. You boot your normal desktop from that CD, and then it will automatically install itself to an USB stick - with which you can boot the One and restore everything.
