Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu Canonical's Mark Shuttleworth has announced the plans for Ubuntu 9.10, named Karmic Koala. Jaunty Jackalope isn't out of its cage yet (April 2009), but the Ubuntu team is already planning for 9.10, which will see the light of day in October 2009. The desktop side will focus on beautification and an improved boot-up experience; the server side will target cloud computing.

If Shuttleworth were serious about Ubuntu's looks, he would make a move to KDE as default. KDE is infintely more customizable to give you exactly the look you want.

No this is no flame-bait. KDE 4.2 proves that Linux desktop can be original in look and feel.

Bad move to go with GNOME/GTK. Anyway, because its getting popular, it won't seem like a bad move. Just look at Windows for a better example :-)
