so.... a screen that gets out of the way when you find what you are looking for is a waste of space?
A waste of space would be something that uses space in a meaningless way while you are performing the tasks that you opened a program for. A screen that out of your way while using a program does not count.

Well, my answer to that is: heeeelll yeaaahhh! Seriously... On a desktop, it just doesn't make any sense. Also, try to install 20-30 non-metro apps and see how it will look... unbelievable.
I'm hoping some 3rd party fellas will quickly make shell replacements available so we can ditch the metro junk.
I only use Windows for [most of my] development at work, but if W8 will remain as it looks now, I'm going to stick with W7 for a long time (since full switch to linux is unfortunately a no-go).
