Why would symbian be opensource? Does it mention that somewhere in that pdf ? I haven’t finished reading it so I might’ve missed something.. As far as I know symbian is not opensource.

WTF does that matter? The way you phrased it paints them as criminal or unethical if they aren’t open source. They’re a company trying to make money, just like any other company that has people they employ that need to survive from their work. There’s no legal or ethical reason why they should or must be open source if they put out a document for their API. Everyone who has an API and wishes to tell people what it’s like would be wise to document it and have that document available for download and/or distribution: that’s good business sense.
