While there are a lot of Wayland compositors out there that aren’t too different from each other in terms of features, one of the more unique ones is Greenfield. The Greenfield Wayland compositor has been out there for a few years now as an in-browser HTML5-based solution that is continuing to prove itself capable and even fast enough for handling Linux gaming.

A rather genius idea for a Wayland compositor.
This looks perfect for connecting to remote machines. LXC containers in particular are a problem for me as you cannot run a local UI on them. So, if you want to use something like Proxmox, you have to use VMs if you want a GUI. I am hoping that I can use this instead to run applications remotely on LXC containers.
If I am reading the build instructions correctly, it looks like they ( by default ) skip building stuff that requires a “Linux Desktop”. From the screenshots, I am assuming this is because they expect it to be running on macOS or something. So, not only is this Wayland in the browser but using a Wayland compositor on macOS or other non-Linux systems. If so, very cool.
I am looking forward to playing with this. It looks like some assembly requiured at this point so I probably need a block of time for that.
