Researchers at Microsoft are working on an ambitious new project to hunt down and neutralize large-scale search engine spammers. The software giant’s Cybersecurity and Systems Management Research Group has taken the wraps off Strider Search Defender, an experimental project that automates the discovery of search spammers through non-content analysis.
Anything they can do to minimize the impact of these leaches in our lives is fine with me…
Agreed! However, “leaches” is too kind a word… I won’t post the word I’m currently thinking with regards to spammers!
Please remember to help control the spammer population. Have your spammer(s) spayed or neutered!
“Cybersecurity”
You know, there’s nothing cybernetic about the Internet.
Most of these “search engine spammers” are actually big DNS registrars, hunting for [temporary] free attractive domain names. Once made sure that such pages/domains will be hit (and their ads clicked), they are acquired by registrars and put up as parked domains, containig all this search spam.
