“This is a detailed description about how to set up a CentOS 4.4 based server that offers all services needed by ISPs and hosters; web server (SSL-capable), mail server (with SMTP-AUTH, TLS), DNS server, FTP server, MySQL, POP3/IMAP, Quota, Firewall, etc. This tutorial is written for the 32-bit version of CentOS 4.4, but should apply to the 64-bit version with very little modifications as well.”

so he simply installs servers. That is a perfect setup? It would be interesting to see how he is securing specific services, tuning tcp, and so on. Otherwise this is a perfect setup for home LAN behind firewall to learn basics.
I was really impressed that centos actuall installed on my ancient rabid linux hating dell latitude C640. Very nice desktop too.
centos4 nothing like old outdated packages and 3rd party repositories that make your centos into fedora installs…
It’s a great read for people who install Fedora Core and CentOS. There’s not a whole lot of documentation on using many of the FC and CentOS packages so a HOWTO like this definitely helps. This is the site that I actually consulted: http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_setup_fedora_core_5 … I can’t wait for the FC6 version.
