FreeBSD boots in single user mode on the SPARC platform. The boot log can be found here. FreeBSD already runs on x86 and Alpha, the SPARC port seems to go well, however the PPC port is not moving that fast.

FreeBSD is my platform of choice. Once I used it after using Red Hat Linux and Slackware Linux, I was in love with it. Now that its being ported to Sun’s sweet hardware, I think I will get my dream machine after all, a Nice SPARC running FreeBSD. There are other BSD’s available for the SPARC, but I’d rather limit OpenBSD to my firewall and NetBSD to my x86 test machines.
Long Live FreeBSD!
