“Microsoft today announced that it has partnered with Cloud.com to provide integration and support of Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V to the OpenStack project, an open source cloud computing platform. The addition of Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V provides organizations and service providers running a mix of Microsoft and non-Microsoft infrastructure with greater flexibility when using OpenStack.”
I am really glad that microsoft is making a real effort to embrace open sourse projects as well as their own stuff. PHP, wordpress, OpenStack, etc…
Same here. Maybe the influence of some new comers to the internal power ring starts to pay off. Hopefully, this will lead to better products for users, with MS focusing on what they do best or should have done better instead of spreading forces (so to speak).
Unless MS have a well hidden agenda, I can only see this as a benefit for users.
btw, my head started spinning at the number of times I read “open”, “mix”, “non-Windows” and “Linux” in the article. MS actually acknowledges that a certain part of the computing world is not MS-centric AND is willing to provide “architectural and technical guidance”… this is not small.
There is even an Open Solutions Group at MS… I need to start changing the way I view that company, although I’ll never forgive them for Vista.
“…although I’ll never forgive them for Vista.”
That’s ok, no one else will either….
