Guest post by HelenOS is a modern microkernel-based multiserver operating system running on a large variety of processor architectures. Version 0.4.3 thereof has been just released. The new release fixes many bugs and brings a lot of improvements in areas so diverse such as new hardware platform support, userspace device driver framework, device drivers, observability and robustness, programming languages, file systems and networking. with each new release I show a little more interest in this OS. Most of these hobby OS’s have some feature or another that makes them stand out to me and I’ll test them or give them a try. I haven’t found this one’s special trait yet though. Anyone know what makes it ‘special’ ?

As one of the developers, I think it’s the portability. The other comparable multiserver systems are not portable.
