when you have Solaris and *BSD.
I have BSD and I agree, who needs crumby linux.
Matt: A have to agree. BSD could kick Linux’s ass. Solaris could kick BOTH of their asses at the same time, with one LWP tied behind it’s back!
There are so many operating systems to choose from. Debian, Redhat, Mandrake, Solaris, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD. Oh wait a minute, they’re all the bloody same thing.
Yawn. It still can’t play a DVD.
So many insecure *BSD users here 🙂
And what exactly do you mean by that? (Insecure *BSD users)
And who needs DVDs anyhow…. like MPAA needs more money.
Debian releases an update and people are beginning to start flame wars. I like *BSD but why flame others?
Of course it can’t – why implement such a new feature at this stage?
If you won’t cutting-edge and don’t care about reliability/stability/security, then go Debian Testing or use a dist like Mandrake “stable”.
Obviously your knowledge in Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris is very limited. I’ve seen no recent benchmarks supporting any of your statements.
Also, I don’t know why you post such a comment to this news?
i have no experience with Debian but i do with other distros (mandrake, suse, redhat). . . all of these are acceptable in terms of ease of installation, confuguration (yast is nice) and stability but we must accept: bsd is bsd.
in particular FreeBSD has a simple (but not less poerful) install program, superior stability, very consistent filesystem and a ports collection (this must be divene creation). NOTE.- this isn’t a flame to linux or his users but remember Mr. Vic’s notes: solaris kick bsd and linux ass, bsd kick . . etc. maybe then end is menuetos kicks windows ass. . . i don’t care about this.
But why solaris kick bsd and linux ass?
But, who is Solaris who just kicks ass of everyone ? Where does this super-man is living, I hope it is not in Kabul…
“very consistent filesystem” – you kidding? The FS is one of the issues FreeBSD needs to resolve, and they’re aware of it.
About ports collection… Don’t state anything you’ll regret – try apt first
