Less than two months ago an email from Microsoft’s Brian Valentine was leaked and TheRegister published it, a second email comes to light today, again with the same outlined subject: Linux Vs Windows. Interesting read (if the email is actually original), and lots of disclaimers to the email recipients from Mr Valentine to not distribute the email (too late!).

The giveaway is the spelling mistake in
“some of our customer’s names where in that email”
No self-respecting Microsoft manager would make that mistake, but a faker – laughing while he wrote – would.
… theRegister does not mean this seriously – very obviously faked.

the register might well take the story seriously- they have often been caught peddling fake stuff with comments like “we’ve tried it and its true!”
TCG wrote this ‘article’ for god sakes! He freely admits he doesn’t check his sources and thinks it his job to blur the line between fact and fud when it ‘enhances’ a story
I hope they are going to find that a temporary increase in page ‘impressions’ from their sensational stories declines steadily as ‘consumer confidence’ in them tumbles

The email is authentic.
The Register’s take on it, however, is pretty weak. They apparently haven’t heard the saying, “Linux is free if your time has no value”. They don’t even consider that gee, maybe companies actually spend money MAINTAINING their systems. Could it be that the cost of software isn’t just what’s printed on the box? What a shocker.

Even if it’s real, what difference does it make? The only thing MS is guilty of here is trying to make more money and win more customers. Right or wrong, ALL corporations do that, but it suddenly becomes the Ultimate Sin when MS does it.
As for the register, they do nothing but talk sh*t about Microsoft anyway, so real or fake – to see this article doesn’t surprise me.
Obviously fake… Something tells me that the guy doesnt only send messages once every 2months. And he talks about the last leaked one like if it was yesterday, bringing it up a few times too many. The PS part was just going too far.

I never let MS anybody, near any of the system I manage. Thier like a contagious disease. Keep them in the lunchroom, conferenceroom or better yet meet them at a restuarant so they can pay for lunch! Never let them near you systems.
this is a reel leaked messege you iddiots. i werk for mirco$oft and we’re worrid like hell that lunix is oging to ruin or hard earned bussiness. communism is a derious crie and we will persue lunix users if we must, but we will not be stpped by t. windws is alot btter than lunks or mac and stuff, yuou can run more programs and fastre and eaerir.
