“Now that you have NetBSD installed on your palmtop, what will you do with it? Customizing and enhancing the installation can be tricky, but what if you had access to much more disk space? Michael Lucas explains how to enhance your palmtop experience with NFS support, so you can build and install software.” Read the article at OnLamp.
Hey Eugenia,
Thanks for posting this. I don’t follow OnLamp often, so it’s nice to be given a headsup for cool articles like this one.
but *why* run it on a palmtop? Is this a “because we can!” kinda thing? It still amazes me that such a thing has been acomplished, a single codebase and sooo many platforms.
You can carry a small Unix-Workstation with you, that is simply cool and useful. You can use it as an portable security-scanner. Or a mini NFS/Appletalk/SMB-server.
You could install FProt-antivirus (wich is available for NetBSD but not in pkgsrc yet) and decontaminate your friends Windowsboxen .
