QNX Software Systems released today the QNX Momentics development suite v6.3. In the coming weeks, there will be a 30-day QNX Momentics Professional Edition evaluation available for download. New to the program, you will be able to select the host version of your choice: Windows, Linux, Solaris, or the QNX Neutrino RTOS x86. It will give you the opportunity to explore our latest commercial offerings for a full 30-days.
What does this mean for current NC users? It means when you download 6.3.0 you start with the full commercial product, allowing you to fully customize your environment for 30 days. After that, the “pro” bits of the install become disabled and you now have everything you had under NC, but with Eclipse pre-installed. So although there is no longer a separate NC download, it continues to live on!
Feel free to ask any questions you have on the forums on this site and we will do our best to answer them.
This is great news! I’d like to congratulate QNX Software Inc. with this new release .
Even though I have no interest in the embedded scene, I am the more interested in the Desktop portion of QNX. As a desktop solution, QNX Neutrino RTOS ain’t that hard to setup as most poeple think. And, Photon is a GUI that is absolutely equal to many others out there.
Give it a try if you haven’t, yet, it’s real nice!
Whats with this 30 day stuff? Used to be no limit.
Actually, the time-out is only on the “pro” parts of the install, which never got included with the downloadable version in the past. So there is no limit on the same feature set as before, but now there is an extended feature set for the first month.
I can’t just wait when NC version will be released…
Will try to port DotGNU to it.
Will have to d/l ~300M via modem (
qnx should go after the desktop market with this product, instead of strictly developers… the market has come to them.
Can’t wait to test it! My wget is ready. 🙂
Awesome! I cannot wait!
Yeah! I’ve been itching for 6.3
timh – rack64,
I don’t know that going into desktop market makes sense, but seeing a little more emphasis on that which also makes a good desktop sure can’t hurt with developers and OS geeks : }
Chris McKillop,
Great to hear about 6.3 – and the 30-day Pro trial is way cool too!
cdm, any plans to update your ‘Killerapps’? I particularly like the look of the music player, but unless I’m missing something, I haven’t seen any updates in over a year.
AFAIK, mkxfs(and etc) was included in QNX610 NC , and successfuly used in QNX620 NC
