For many developers, there’s usually more than one dynamic language that they use to do their jobs. It’s also ActiveState’s job with its latest IDE release for professional developers using open source dynamic languages, Komodo 3.0. Dynamic languages such as Perl, PHP, Python, Tcl and XLST are all part of the Komodo IDE, which strives to make developers lives easier by offering a common interface and toolset to develop in multiple languages.
It ain’t free but it sure is sweet.
Anyone who has used this care to compare it to Zend Studio and / or Quanta Plus?
I’ve never actually used komodo, but have heard good things about it, hopefully thisll just be better!
As for pricing, you can get the personal edition for just $30, but you can use zend personal for free (last time i checked anyway)
i still enjoy zend as my primary php ide
I’ve used older versions of Zend, Quanta, and Komodo. I stayed with Komodo for the longest simply because it runs light-years faster than Zend and has more options and configures nicely (for my tastes) when compared to quanta.
the stuff from AS is great, tools, modules and docs.
I’d just love to see ruby support in their products.
I mean, they already have the trademark( http://tinyurl.com/6rgvx ), now they just need some simple code
Interesting: “We were one of the first serious applications built on top of the Mozilla Framework before even the Mozilla Foundation was started.” So Komodo is using Mozilla Framework…
I still swear by optiperl from xarka.com the integration of tools and the way code is displayed is very unique.
