Xfce The Xfce project has released the first beta in the 4.4 release cycle. "Xfce 4.4 beta1 (4.3.90.1) is now available for download. Xfce 4.4 features new tools such as the much anticipated 'Thunar' file manager as well as several huge improvements of its core components."

Fonts shouldn't have to be "set up correctly". They should just work, and look good.

Start telling people about FreeType, hinting, sub-pixel hinting, anti-aliasing, OpenType, Type A, and so on, and they'll give you a blank stare and ask you "Why doesn't the computer just set that up?"

People expect it to be set up automatically and to look good. And it is. Just not in most Linux distros.

It depends on the distro. You can't expect fonts and everything to be configured properly on something like Gentoo or Slackware.

All the mainstream desktop-orientated distros I've seen do tend to have them setup correctly.
