Openbox 3.4.3
has been released.
"Openbox is a minimalistic, highly configurable, next generation window manager with extensive standards support. Openbox lets you bring the latest applications outside of a full desktop environment. Most modern applications have been written with GNOME and KDE in mind. With support for the latest freedesktop.org standards, as well as careful adherence to previous standards, Openbox provides an environment where applications work the way they were designed to."

I've tried Openbox before. One of my first comments was: "It's like Fluxbox, but without tabs", to which someone on the Openbox forums replied: "Don't worry! you'll soon get used to not having them!" I was not impressed.
Plus the XML format of the config files was awful to wrestle with compared to Fluxbox's much simpler format. As for ICCCM compliance, I haven't noticed any significant differences in application behaviour.
While I'll happily say that Openbox is very good, Fluxbox is simply better. I will not compare it to other WMs like FVWM having not really used them.
