Using GNOME is not one of the best experiences around, but after KDE devels chose to break the whole thing apart, it gaves us no other mainstream choices on the desktop.
I do find that GNOME issues are far more easy to fix to regain users' happiness about their requests, than KDE4.0 becoming any sort of desktop killer any time soon. KDE4.0 a plain SHOT on right on the foot. It's starting to hurt now, and you will halt your walk slowly.
