Despite the recent emergence of several new ways to actually run AmigaOS 4.0, the supply of machines is still extremely small, and not very future proof. As such, one of the most recurring questions within the Amiga community is why don't they port the darn thing to x86?

I would not consider the EFIKA to be mainstream by any stretching of the concept of "mainstream" that is possible.
Want mainstream adoption? Very simple, support a mainstream HW platform. The EFIKA is not one of them. Simply pick a platform which starts with P and ends in C :-)
It really does not take a genius, and that was true all the way back to the late 90s. It is too late for Amiga anyways, it is dead Jim.

you mean like a PowerPC? that does fit your argument 
so the board i posted fits under your guidlines. man that was close and here i thought I had made an error lol.
I know what you mean and your right.
Personaly I would rather see it ported to ARM. with all the ARM things comming out these days and the ShivaPLUG and the ARM netbooks, it would be a great way to move into an emerging market sector. HINT Genesi and Amiga Inc, HINT

Mainstream PPC platform is PS3. Powerful, well made, high quality hardware. Unlike garage-crafted custom PPC boards.
It is aleady sold in quantities more than Amiga users count of all time.
Some cosmetic changes should be enough to run OS4 / Morphos on PS3. And it has some great games BTW.

A Linux distribution, sure, but with some very refreshing ideas about system configuration.

Google added, among other features, C/C++ support to its new version of AIDE. From Android-IDE, "Now you can write parts of your app or your whole app in C/C++ on your device. AIDE supports the Standard Android NDK toolchain (GCC 4.6 + Bionic, STL, ...). No changes are necessary if you want to build an app developed on a PC with Eclipse. C/C++ development is fully integrated: Build errors appear in the error list and files can easily be navigated to with Go to file. The editor supports C/C++ syntax highlighting."

Glass is getting some love at Google I/O as well. New applications have been released - Facebook, Twitter, Evernote, Elle, Tumblr, and CNN. Perhaps more interesting: the newly announced Google Glass Developer Kit will allow offline applications and direct hardware access - great for hacking and expanding Glass' potential. This kit will really allow hackers to put Glass through its paces.

Absolutely fascinating stuff. I'm a League of Legends player, and to be honest, the community isn't nearly as bad as some make it out to be. I'm happy Riot games has the guts to employ science to address the issue.

Windows Phone doubles from a few to twice few, iOS loser market share as its growth is slower than that of the overall market. BlackBerry continues slide into irrelevance.

it only took infinity billion years to get OS 4.0 out on any system. So what doesn't Amgia Inc do what they always do and just tell them it's comming and start "the waiting game." Amiga users are gluttins for punishment, they love the waiting game

all kidding aside though it needs to happen if they want mainstream adoption. that or put it on this ( http://www.genesi-usa.com/efika ) and start updating that board to newer specs.
