Just read the article. You will see what it says about there not being just one single Webkit implementation.

I've read the article and unlike you I also understood it.
Yes, there are different ports with different capabilities.
Are those ports unmanageable forks? No.

Indeed, different ports, as there are major problems associated with maintaining them.
