I'd go as far as to say preferring GObject to C++ has got to be some kind of yet-unknown mental disorder, but that does happen.
Quite true. I really like C and it is what I have most experience with (programming mcus etc.) but looking at GObject makes me want to puke so I would only consider doing OO with it in the most dire of circumstances.

What I meant is, Gtk makes sense if you dislike C++ and want to stick to "pure C". Qt has no maintained C binding.
