Its not the same, it could insert it without carriage return, or it can insert the line using line feed instead of carriage return, or it could do both, when you use the files for multi-platform purposes, this stuff matters.
Actually no it doesn't matter. Because when you use files for multi-platform purposes, you use a decent text editor that can handle difference between DOS and UNIX EOLs (or in the worst case scenario, pipe your ASCII through unix2dos / dos2unix).
