I thought it was a rather sensible approach? Looking at smartphones as PDA replacements, and dragging in the older windows CE devices as references for what has been possible in this space before, helps place his views and requirements in a context. Merely saying "I think iOS has worse multitasking than android" is less interesting than a compare/contrast with earlier useful solutions/iOS/android.

Way to go to miss the point. FFS it like swimming through custard on here sometimes.
He was stating that other people stating themselves as geeks were wrong (in his first few sentences) because they didn't know the history.
I was saying that he was being someone egotistical to say he knew what is geek and what isn't. If he said "smart phone experts" I wouldn't have had an issue with it, but then again I care about accuracy when it matters.
Thus me referencing the true scotsman fallacy.
But never mind ... Carry on.

History is written by the victors.
BTW: Preaching to the choir somewhat?
Geeks btw come in different sizes, my friend describes himself as a design geek. I describe myself as a bicycle geek before a computer geek (you wouldn't know the stuff I do about bottom brackets ... swedish bicycle you say??)
Some people label themselves geeks because they are into gadgets. I would say some UK football supporters are geeks because they know soo much about it, it is on obsession.
I love the idea that there is some type of Geekism hierarchy and by knowing the history (that nobody except us care about) of how Smartphones evolved makes you the lord of nerds or something.
I hope you know about the true scotsman fallacy?
Early smartphone history will be nothing except a curiosity.
