Windows "The new Windows PowerShell is coming. Actually, Microsoft has just launched a Community Technology Preview of Windows PowerShell version 3, although the final version 3 probably won’t ship until it comes out with Windows 8. It also will be available for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. The CTP will install on those OSes."

OT but I think deserves to be said nonetheless:
I used to feel the same pain as you but recently I found a code editor called Sublime Text 2.
I've been using it on Mac and Windows and I absolutely love it!
Give it a try, maybe you'll like it.

Still ~$60 for a text editor though, so doesn't help me so much with my dilemma... :/

That being said, I rarely use Windows for anything but gaming and Q&D software compilation + testing these days...
