KDE KDE has announced its latest set of releases, providing major updates to KDE Plasma Workspaces, KDE Applications, and the KDE Platform. Version 4.8 provides many new features, and improved stability, performance and dynamic power management.

Since it does a whole lot more than 3.5 ever did. So obviously some of the functionality from the few discarded % of code, have had less priority to be added back.

Seriously, KDE SC is something like 4-5 million lines of code, do you really think the KDE developer(they are not that many) designed, developed, tested and debugged all that code from scratch in the few years since KDE 3.5? For most, in their spare time at that.

It's true that the KDE developers are awesome, but they are not quite on that level of super humans.

I haven't even accounted for the Qt developers, which is an independent project.

Many of those developers do not contribute to KDE SC, they work in other parts of the KDSs repositories like extragear, koffice/caligra, kdevelop, webdeveloper and translators. Others, while active produce very little code.

Really?

And regardless, 450 developers are not that many in the context of design, develop, test and debug 4-5 million lines of code from scratch in the few years since KDE 3.5. Which was the silly statement I was addressing.
