This is a great deal for you, at the risk of buying a product that could soon be orphaned.

...and that is exactly what potential developers will think if they price it that low. It's suicide.

MS primary customers have always been developers and CTOs. Their messages including this one is directed to them. Nokia enslavement was also a message to developers.
Given 100k apps for 1% platform, they are getting it.
