No, you are using a browser that shows content created in a remote server somewhere. Probably with some parts generated dynamically on the browser thanks to JavaScript. This is not a desktop application.
As a vendor of such software I can make money out of you, by restricting on how your browser is able to access the server.
If you don't pay, there is no more server access to you.
This a complete different usage scenario from desktop applications, specially where the majority don't do any type of network access.

This is no desktop application, as it runs server side.
