PDAs, Cellphones, Wireless

Jolla has released its latest big update for Sailfish today, the fourth big update since the first release early December. It's got a whole boatload of improvements and fixes - the most important of which, to me at least, are two-way Google Calendar sync and landscape mode for email, messages, and notes. I'm also hoping for actually working sync for Gmail (read my review for more on that). Other improvements include lots of UI fixes, lots of new settings for the camera, improved Exchange ActiveSync support, and lots more.

The update is rolling out to all Jolla phones as we speak.

I admire Jolla for their consistent, dogged adherence to and excellent execution of their original plan - design and build some innovative hardware, get a solid release of software that supports it, and then iterate the software regularly while expanding their hardware channels to new markets. Sounds like a recipe for long-term success.

Bravo!

A major thing which is missing is a new revision of the current hardware with modem which supports North American frequencies.

The only workaround until then (or a second device in 2015?) would be using it with CM/Android hardware adaptation on some other device, but those instructions aren't published yet either.

Well, they don't have any plans to sell in the U.S. in the first place, so... Let's just say that I would suggest not to hold your breath.
