Among the many highlights for Wine 6.0 are core modules now being implemented in Portable Executable (PE) format, the initial (experimental) Vulkan back-end for WineD3D as an alternative to OpenGL, DirectShow and Media Foundation support, and a redesign of their text console implementation.
Wine is such an integral part of my computing life now, due to Proton and Valve.
From my experience on Linux I found Wine okay. What I do wish “they” would sort out is making it as easy to as Microsofts stuff like easy install and the compatibility stuff auto-configured. I know there are variants of Wine which kind of do this but the ease of use thing would definately reduce friction and make Linux more compelling.
When running Linux I only had a couple of applications I needed to run via Wine. Lightroom 5.x 32 bit worked well after a lot of faffing but 64 bit had graphical glitches or wouldn’t install, I forget which. I have no idea if Wine 6 fixes this.
