Yesterday, Magnussoft, via the ZETA-OS site, announced the launch of the new Beta Test program. A difference in this beta test program is that the testers will not only work with the OS itself but also with beta applications, drivers and even kernel modules (when you apply you can choose if you want to test only one of those or all of them). What’s also nice about this is that everyone can apply, without the need for prior experience in beta testing.
Just registered now. Hopefully I will be able to participate in it a little bit. Should be a neat experience if I get accepted to try it. I have no real experience with Zeta/BeOS so it will be neat to give it a swing.
Um, I’ve been a beta tester, and we tested drivers and apps as well. I don’t get why this is different. Or maybe they are saying it’s different, even though it’s the same as noone outside the betas knew that anyway?
if you develop drivers/software for Haiku. They have a NDA requirement for acceptance and I’m not certain to what effect such could have on Haiku development later on.
Just passing along one person’s concern…
Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. Not implemented (-2147467263)
osnews’d eh? 🙁
Just wanted to know if having access to this Beta program automaticaly gives you access to Zeta ? or if you need to have Zeta before applying ?
Generally you get access to it. You have to be using the testbed they’re using to be of any help. Genearlly I kept a separate partition and/or HD with the beta builds for testing, and stable one for day to day. Granted, the betas felt more stable IMHO.

It says on their page that no prior experience with BeOS or Zeta is expected – they are looking for people who have never used it as well.
Is there a new feature list ?
