Pixologic to Unleash ZBrush 1.5

Slow news day today, but this product is truly interesting and it deserves our attention. It is the most innovative graphics application I’ve seen since Painter (demo here), and that was many years ago. ZBrush from Pixologic is neither strictly 2D or 3D, but it is “2.5D”. In addition to new features, ZBrush1.5, which comes out tomorrow, also provides significant enhancements in nearly every tool and palette. You’ll get expanded and improved 2.5D painting capabilities, texturing options, and sculpting utilities, plus many behind-the-scene changes. The available demo for download (Mac/Win) is only for version 1.23b currently, but it will give you an idea of what this is all about. Also, CorelDraw 11 is out.

    BTW, this software does not create photorealistic stuff, like 3DStudioMax, or Cinema4d or Lightwave try to do. This is mostly an enhanced Painter kind of application. It is great to create models or graphics for computer games, or to create modern art stuff. It is really different. Its output does not try to create “real-looking” stuff, but more dreamy, or painted-looking stuff.

    Just plain WOW ! I mean for a video game developer professional and hobbyist, this stuff look great ! Now I just hope the GUI is as good as the output…

    I used it some time ago. I couldn’t stick with it for long because of its stupid interface.

    You can lose yourself in it, just kinda wander off into your own world. Highly recommended to both the casual and professional artist looking for something fun and new. ;)

    yup i love this program!

    in the beginning it’s somewhat hard to understand how to model objects. you have to do the tutorials included to understand it.

    Looks very nice. Must try it if I get that 17″ iMac.

    But hows corel doing, anyone heard if 11 is any good?
