IBM Corp is getting ready to take the wraps off the next release of its AIX 5L operating system for its pSeries servers. Sources familiar with IBM’s plans say that the company is expected to make the announcement on October 8, Timothy Prickett Morgan writes. Read the article at TheRegister.
I’m still running two machines with AIX PS/2 version 1.3.3 from the 90’s. I transfer and work with many Gigs of information on these machines each day. And once in a while i sometimes have to do an fsck or fscorrect(maybe once every 2-3 months) on the working partition, and as a last resort i can just reinitialize the partition. The system partitions have never needed maintenance.
PS/2 Pentium 60MHz, 64MB ram, 2 GB boot drive, 4x4GB data drives.
I just wish i could play with the newer versions and the nice PowerPC/Power Machines they have.
I think you just pointed out why AIX will be around forever. And thats not a bad thing.
