“Hyperion Entertainment CVBA announces the immediate availability of Update 2 for AmigaOS 4.1 for AmigaOne, SAM440EP and Pegasos II for registered users. Note that for this update you must have previously installed AmigaOS 4.1 Update 1. Installation of this Update 2 is required for the upcoming public alpha of Timberwolf [AmigaOS’ Firefox port]. This is a minor update which contains mostly bugfixes.”
nothing earth-shattering in this update from a user perspective, but the news that ‘timberwolf’ will finally see the light of day is good news. i’m not sure how the firefox port will run on my (somewhat underpowered) SAM440ep-flex system, but i imagine on the G4 systems and the upcoming X1000 it should work well.
besides — i rather like OWB anyway.
Still no updates for USB 2.0? Yes, a modern web browser is a welcome update, but they still have a lot of work to do supporting existing hardware.
USB 2.0 support, updated video drivers for newer video cards, etc….
But I suspect that these issues will never be addressed and Hyperion will focus on the X1000 leaving SAM and PegII users out in the cold.
USB 2.0 was released barely ten years ago and you already demand that they support it.
People are so impatient these days.

I personally believe that Amiga OS 4.0 are unable to do so because, uh, some Amiga’s out there in our nation don’t have USB ports and, uh, I believe that our, uh, operating systems like such as in South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our USB 2.0 over here in the U.S. should help Microsoft., uh, or, uh, should help Hyperion and should help the Amiga’s and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for our children.
Erm, have I been working too hard this afternoon because I didn’t follow that at all? I guess you were talking about equality of technological opportunity towards the ends which is important, but this has very little to do with the Amiga. Could you clarify please?
My A1200 had USB support before the subway controller met an untimely end so back to old school methods of transferring data; anyone tried to buy 720kb floppies these days? Even when you do get some Windows XP no longer allows you to format the damn things.
Yes you’ve been working too hard. My post above was a parody on Miss South Carolina’s answer to why most people in the United states can’t locate their own country on a map. You can find it on Youtube with many millions of views.

You may not know this. But there are plenty of people who happen to not live in the USA. Such as…

he-he! True, but a USB2 driver will be more likely for AOS4.x than an official Windows driver for NT 4 or 95. so that’s sorta of a victory..
The upcoming x1000 has no less than 10 USB2 ports, so I’m guessing they’ll be a usb2 stack/driver out soon.
Yeah, there’ll be a USB 2.0 upgrade alright. It’s called “buy the X1000 at an exorbitant price” and “buy another copy of AOS4” that only runs on the X1000 for another exorbitant amount.
An update for AmigaOS? It feels like it’s 1993 again.
