Jolla, the company behind SailfishOS, has released the SailfishOS SDK for Windows, OS X and Linux. Developers’ve got everything they need to develop now – let’s hope this picks up enough steam.

on their site, they make my eyes hurt.
Sure. If SailfishOS manages to get at least 10% of Android’s market share or if someone pays the developers for porting/writing something for Sailfish OS…
Until then, we will probably see just some generic linux/open source software ported to Sailfish by bored people.
Yay to Frozen Bubble on SailfishOS.

There’s already quite a bit of software for the Nokia N9 that should be easily portable. For instance, there are two open source Spotify clients (in addition to the somewhat poorer official client).
I hope it does take off, it probably won’t effect me much anytime soon (I live in the US and don’t have the money to try and import anything right now), but I’m glad for the competition. I never got to play with the Nokia N9, but I was impressed by what I saw. I’m pretty happy with Android, but I would love to see more competition. I hope this takes off and while I’m not overly optimistic I also hope BB10 helps keep Blackberry alive.
With both Ubuntu and Sailfish standardising on QTCreator (building on the previous work from Nokia’s investment, I guess), it’ll be interesting to see how similar the two approaches are.
Even if neither of these platforms gains traction (and I hope they do), their combined efforts might make using QT more attractive.
