Apple yesterday seeded a new build of the Mac OS X 10.2.8 update, providing build 6R73 to developers. “This build addresses some issues found in the last seed,” Apple told testers. 10.2.8 was released last month but was pulled quickly due to some problems it introduced to some users. Update: The new build is now available via Software Update.
Does anyone know if Panther or Panther Server will support the rumored XBlade server or will we need to wait until 10.4?
XBlade? Say what now? That doesn’t have anything to do with Sun does it?
Regardless I’m sure Apple would support their hardware with updated system software. Just look at the G5’s.
New re-released update apparently incorporates fixes to address the ethernet and battery status issues introduced by the previous 10.2.8 update release.
But while my iBook no longer misreports a paltry ~2hrs battery life, the numbers now keep fluctuating. Resetting PMU doesn’t seem to have helped.
Am trying battery calibration next. Hope this works…
but shouldn’t this build release be technically called 10.2.9
I realize that seeding is probably an Apple term but can we just put the new-new-economy buzzwords behind us? Call it releasing or whatever it means. Seriously I don’t know the meaning which is why I’m asking.
Apple’s seeds are for testing, prior to releases. Generally, they only make it available to developers, thus being Developer seeds, which will hopefully bear fruit in new software or at least, compatible old software being ready when the operating system update is released.
I installed 10.2.8 on my 12PB and so far everything is ok. Thank God.
Ok, battery status stopped fluctuating wildly after battery recalibration
I did a clean install using the eMac restore CD, then I applied the MacOS 10.2.8 Combo update. Now, after that I dialed up to the internet, however, I found that I kept getting the browser saying that osnews.com is down, slashdot.org is down.
Now, I rebooted, reset the PRAM and it seems that the problem has gone. Has anyone else seen that sort of problem crop up? I’m not to fussed, just curious.

Seeding is not an Apple term…. its another word for distribute.
Why is it that I have to remind you people every time the word seeding is mentioned?
Why is the word only used to describe Apple’s release of testing software? Please use the search button on your left and search for “seed.”
