yellowTAB is pleased to announce that RC2 has arrived and is ready to ship. Please read here if you are interested in taking part in their trade-in offer (trade RC1 for RC2). Otherwise they will be releasing a free update to bring all RC1 installs up-to-date to the RC2 status.
I just can’t understand why they want us to send back the RC1 CD… I’m ok to pay for the shipping of the RC2 but why send back the RC1 ??? anyone can make back up… it’s totally useless… They won’t even explain why on their forum…
WHY ?
Because they did not keep track of who they sold RC1 to. So they don’t know who is eligible for an upgrade price. Doesn’t sound very well managed to me.
That’s hilarious. Perhaps they should release a weekly cartoon or something.
They should know, because everyone who bought it via them has an account.
1. Perhaps they are afraid (due to bad tracking of customers!) that people that have a pirated copy would get an upgrade for just the cost of downloading. Of course, I’m not sure why you’d want to pirate it, with the shoddy quality it has shown.
2. Perhaps they are trying to minimize their screwups with multiple applications distributed that they didn’t have the legal right to distribute, but I don’t see how that will really help.
3. Maybe they want to go skeet shooting with CD’s: PULL! BAM!
4. Maybe they’re part of the Green party, and want to recycle their CD’s
If you cared to read through the Yellows Tabs’ 16th january press statement would see that free online updates are still available.
“Of course, yellowTAB will continue to provide free online updates to all customers until the final version is released.”
I didn’t read the article but they better not be charging for beta software.
They aren’t. You prepay for the final release but right away you get the beta (called RC1/RC2).
All you need to do to get a R1 CD when Release 1 ships is pay $10 for shipping (I can’t recall if that is 10 USD or 10 Euro).
