eCosCentric partners with SSV Embedded Systems

eCosCentric Limited announced their partnership with SSV Embedded Systems to deliver an eCosPro(tm) Starter Kit for the DIL/NetPC DNP/5280 embedded controller board. The rest of the press release:

The eCosPro Starter Kit contains an eCosPro industrial-strength release of the eCos real-time operating system alongside certified RedBoot firmware, eCos configuration tools and GNU compilation tools. The kit will be bundled with the DNP/5280 board as standard.

“eCos is the premier royalty-free open source RTOS and we are pleased to partner with SSV in delivering a complete solution for the evaluation of eCos and RedBoot on MCF5280 ColdFire hardware.” said Daniel Morris, Sales & Marketing Director at eCosCentric. Further resources, including an Eclipse IDE and a comprehensive range of engineering and support services, are available from eCosCentric to assist OEMs in their deployment of eCos and RedBoot.

About DIL/NetPC DNP/5280
The DNP/5280 is a member of the well known DIL/NetPC family and features the latest 32-bit MCF5280 66MHz ColdFire microcontroller by Motorola providing a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface, 8 MByte Flash and 16 MByte SDRAM. 2 serial interfaces, one parallel, SPI, I2C and CAN-bus are available for communication. Mechanically, the DNP/5280 is based on a 64-pin Dual-In-Line (DIL) pinout and is therefore compatible with the rest of the DIL/NetPC family. Due to this simple mechanical concept, the module can be integrated in systems and projects with minimal development costs. With members of the DIL/NetPC family, the user has a real time-to-market advantage in delivering products with network access.

About eCos and RedBoot
eCos is an open source, royalty-free, real-time operating system designed for deeply embedded applications. The highly configurable nature of eCos allows the operating system to be customised to precise application requirements, delivering the best possible run-time performance and an optimised hardware resource footprint.

RedBoot is a complete bootstrap and debug environment for embedded systems based on the eCos hardware abstraction layer. RedBoot allows download and execution of embedded applications via serial or ethernet, including embedded Linux and eCos applications. It can be used for both product development (debug support) and in deployed products (flash update and network booting).
