Personally I would rather have a personal help than machine help. Since US already has illegals, let them work as help or care givers without all the social security crap that stops us. That solves a couple of problems in one go.
But robots in science, industry or dangerous environments, diff story. Btw there is a robo car race going on in CA desert for a couple hundred miles, story was on EET. This is what pushes robo tech forward, not the vacuum cleaners.
