My old Psion NetBook PDA had a leather clad casing. It was VERY nice!

Kind of weird to have to buy leather cleaner with your new notebook, huh?
That’s what I was thinking as well. But I don’t think anyone who has to use the laptop a lot will be able to avoid either the leather discoloring or the surface of the leather from being damaged.
When I’m in a factory my hands sweat heavily, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. I could just imagine with the heel of my wrist in constant contact with the leather would ruin it.
However, nothing like some harvested dead animal skin to spruce up your ‘puter. Tho, strangely enough, I like the color combo. I think it’s pleasing and as other posters have already said, would go well with Ubuntu.
ADDED: I just read the second page and read there is a bundled leather mouse as well. The leather looks great if it’s pristine, but I can’t imagine how horrified people will be if one whips out an obviously dirty-discolored mouse (let alone the laptop).

What’s with ASUS producing all that supposedly “fashionable” crap along with Acer? Lamborghini, Ferrari, now Prada, for crying out loud! (BTW, isn’t pink Prada version exactly the same as this one, but… well… pink? http://www.bornrich.org/images/r_asus_s6f_pink_laptop_for_ces.jpg).
That’s all fine, but ASUS-designed notebooks are ugly and bulky. The whole affair looks like they’re trying to wrap a turd in candy foil. Speaking of pervasive leather, I don’t suppose you’re going to wear it?
And on a related note, ASUS hasn’t even bothered to customize the default XP install in their Lamborghini line – it still features some weird default ASUS-branded sunflowers or something.

Seriously – when a “celebrity” goes to buy a computer, what brand do they buy? – They most likely find the most expensive, gaudy, all “bells-n-whistles” model they can find.
the brown model they show does look kind of classy but for that price… no way. My macbook pro was about the same price and as far as performance, my MBP would run circles around that thing.
The brown version should look nice with Ubuntu running.
Why not paint the laptop some ugly 70s green, or orange, and cover the Back of the LCD with black vinyl.
I wish I could get a green laptop. Why do computers all look so boring. And those few that are colored look like toys. A Ferrari comes in bright colors and still looks good, why not a laptop?
I saw a Ferrari branded laptop the other day. It was minging! Not as bad as a leather laptop, but a minger all the same.
As for a green laptop, wait a while. Apple’s Nano has gone all brightly coloured. Maybe the MacBook will follow suit.
It probably means to go well with brown Zune, by the way.

…this is just another example of a PC manufacturer that wants to ‘prove’ that PCs are ‘also’ about design and that it’s not only Apple that cares about this subject…
