When asked about the return rates of linux based netbooks, Jerry Shen, CEO of Asus replied,
I think the return rate for the Eee PCs are low but I believe the Linux and Windows have similar return rates.
He also mentioned an interesting tidbit that a lot of Europeans go for the Linux version of the netboook.
Highlights:- A touch-enabled Eee PC will be introduced in early 2009.
- An easy-mode Win XP will be released in the Q4 of 2008. He elaborated on the purpose of "Easy Mode".
For the novice and for the person who doesn’t know how to use the computer, Easy Mode is better. We provide this option on Windows XP if people want a simple interface, but they can also use the full operating system.
- Windows 7 will be introduced in EeePC in the second half of 2009.
- Windows Vista will be skipped in the future EeePC versions.
For now it will be Linux and XP and then Windows 7 and not do Vista.
