Syllable, AtheOS The Realtek 8169 network card driver has been ported to the Syllable desktop operating system from Linux. This is the first Gigabit network driver for Syllable. A beta release [.bin.zip] is available and the driver will be included in the next release of Syllable.

Tests I've run seem to indicate that Gigabit ethernet is about twice as fast as FastEthernet in most real world scenarios involving getting files off a somewhat busy fileserver across a somewhat busy network with gigabit switchs. Twice as fast obvioulsy isn't anywhere near the theoretical maximum, but it does make a difference.
