Articulating what you what 'else' what you would like to see in the iPhone is different then writing a whole article on ALL the reseaons why you don't want one and why you don't think its a good device.
And I never said we were smarter, we just see these types of devices from a very different view point. BIG difference.
And (as I stated before) I agree that the iPhone isn't perfect and could use improvements, so I never said don't complain or let apple know about it. But telling apply what you think and giving suggestions is different then writing a whiney article smashing the iPhone as being completely usless (ok, so this one may not be that strong, but others out there are a lot worse).

"what you don't understand is that (most) people here can't have this fudgy middle ground. "
I disagree , most people here have it , the middle ground understanding that is , most people will read ant not discuss anything anyway ( due to time or fear or hatred ) , they just also are able to articulate what they would like on top of that.
You have this notion that because we are smarter ( in some area ) and other people accept mediocrity and lesser products ( in some area ) we should be shutting up and be happy with what we got , in order to lessen the level of discussion on some subject ...
Asking for what you want does not guarantee you will get it , but sometime you might get some of what you asked.
You also have to understand that limitation exist and that the device don't grow on tree , sometime patents , product and competition come into play.
The just work argument don't work on me , I am of the must be cheaper , better faster sleeker and free to upgrade , modify and evolve. If you disagree get out of the way.
