Yer, it's a big problem. What good is metadata if the actual data it is referencing isn't there? All you've got is a broken filesystem when you bring things back up. I can't believe that.
It's strange that we've had all this 'data loss' stuff levelled at XFS over the years as an advantage of ext3 when they're making even more mistakes with ext4 and replicating problems and scenarios XFS has fixed.
