What you get is a bunch of incompatible forks:

Nowhere in that article it's claimed that they are forks.

Just read the article. You will see what it says about there not being just one single Webkit implementation.

I've read the article and unlike you I also understood it.
Yes, there are different ports with different capabilities.
Are those ports unmanageable forks? No.
