Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu "Canonical has today publicly confirmed that they are working on a new cross-platform displayer server for Ubuntu. Called 'Mir', the X Window Server replacement is tasked with 'enabling development of the next generation Unity'. Which, in yet another about-turn, is to be rebuilt in Qt/QML." It'll be used for all Ubuntu variants (phone, tablet, desktop), and the first version will be released come May.

Just wiser that community driven desktop isan utopia.

Since "the community" hasn't managed to replace even when it was high time, and since "the community" gave us Gnome 3, does anybody feel bad about that?

Sometimes, too many cooks do spoil the food, and sometimes being able to choose between 4 competing audio systems and a dozen of GUIs isn't for the best.

Get over it folks. There wilk be a schism between consumer/mainstream linux and hobbyist linux. And maybe it will be for the best.
