Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu Mark Shuttleworth: "I simply have zero interest in the crowd who wants to be different. Leet. 'Linux is supposed to be hard so it's exclusive' is just the dumbest thing that a smart person could say." He's right. Lots of interesting insights in this blog post - I may not agree with everything Ubuntu does, but at least it's doing something.

I think Mark really wants to create an Ubuntu vs the rest of Linux scenario, he wants to make people choose because he believes that Ubuntu can win right now. He doesn't understand that the only people he'll win with is the people FOSS doesn't need in the first place.

He is winning because his users don't want to push for open source drivers, they don't care about patented codecs. Let him go his own way, he is doing more harm than good. Linux has never been about gaining users, it has always been about something more than that.

Don't get me wrong, spreading Linux is very important, but for the right reasons.
