Linux I volunteer as tech support for a small organization. For years we relied on Ubuntu on our desktops, but the users didn't like it when Ubuntu switched to the Unity interface. This article tells about our search for a replacement and why we decided on Xfce running atop Linux Mint.

Too bad you did not try KDE

I've run latest KDE just fine on my 5 years old computer until half a year ago.

I think KDE is is a classic style desktop with all modern addons. For example it still has a classic menu if you like one, but on the other hand there is a keyboard launcher where you can launch anything through typing stuff in.
