i will surely now invest into a dead plattform

The fact that it will be eventually eclipsed by an Intel powered Macintosh doens't mean that it isn't a kick ass system today. In 6 months your Opteron system will be old news too. Apple may bring out Intel iBooks in January but it could be another 6 to 9 months before the high end Power Macs change over. Not quite a dead platform yet.

Then another 12 months for stable, optimised Intel versions of the applications that you want, giving the average customer atlesat a 2 year waiting time if one were to have bought an iBook on January (if released).
